I just had a fab idea for a wall display using some of the T-rex teeth I sculpted! Remember that scene in the Lost World where a Rex pokes it's head into Sarah Harding's tent? Well, I'm going to do that (just the tip of its snout to keep the size down) and the tent flaps on either side. ;D I've already got some molds for the teeth, but may need to sculpt a few more to fully fill out the front of its mouth. I haven't decided on the clay to use yet, but it'd probably be an oil-based material. I will need to get hold of some tent-like material to model the tent flap/door with, but the tricky part is molding it. I'd like it to be solid like the rex head (cast in resin), so it'll be challanging finding a way to make the material solid enough so it can be molded. I thought about spraying it with something to stiffen it? Any suggestions are welcome.

why not coat it in casting resin? or do it in thin plastic heat it up get your folds and then moulld it. I have just moulded an item for my bathroom which required the waistband of a pair of trousers Igot it how I wanted brushed on casting resin and although not great the silicon moulded it and came off allright.Thin card with the folds needed can be moulded You could even put those brass eyelets in and mould

Great idea with the resin coating! This thing is going to be 1/1 scale, so I can really only do the very tip of the snout. Maybe I can label the piece 'Peek-a-boo' ;D

I've made a start sculpting more of the teeth, so I'll mold those and create an armature for the head soon. Here's an actual prop tooth I have that's great reference to get the Rex teeth shaped right. Attachments:

Nothing yet of the armature, I'm still working on that. Here's a vid clip of the scene.

Here's a casting of the miniature snout I'm working from to get the detail and proportions right for the 1/1 scale sculpt. This is just a plaster piece, but handy as hell! Attachments:

How big is that plaster piece? It looks so well detailed.

Wow, that's a big model. Are you going to put ferns around the big one? Maybe you could have it breaking through a wall. I've seen people doing this with Raptor busts, so why not a T-Rex?!! It'd probably look more realistic as Tyrannosaurus is much bigger and stronger than Raptors.

I actually planned to make it look like it's poking it nose into a tent through the open flaps, or ferns (or both). Also, I'm considering using real tent material and just draping it around the Rex head. I could always offer the leftover material to others or they might perfer to use plant material, or even make their own wall bursting piece as you suggested. Personally I prefer the tent approach.
