While I'm waiting on my amber mosquitoes and awaiting a delivery of materials for the Raptor busts, I've decided to do a quick WIP tutorial of the fossil Raptor claw that Dr. Grant owns in the first Jurassic Park movie. This claw will be about 6" long and cast in resin when finished. ;D Attachments:

Using sculpting Milliput, I shaped the claw and after hardening, set to work in scraping out the inside groove and rounding the outside edge nice and even. I wasn't very happy with the perfect smooth finish, so to give it a slight fossil/rocky texture, I crushed up some dried clay into powder and sprinkled it onto the sculpt with drops of water. This gave it a more realistic finish. It took about 8 hours in total and was excited to start the molding process! My JP dvd was probably near breaking point after all the freeze-framing, rewinding etc..during the sculpting stage. ;D I have done a few casts now of my Dr. Grant claw! Looking real nice too and pretty screen accurate as far as I can tell. I always thought it was completely black in colour, but in the daylight scenes in Jurassic Park, it appears to be a brown colour. I think I will go for a black/brown colouring.

It's been a little bit since this was posted, but are you selling any of these claws?

Yes, I have now cast some of these claws in a strong weighty resin which are finished matt black and weathered. I will add a pic shortly.

It's a Polyurethane resin called Axson F16. Here's a recent pic. Attachments:
