I thought I'd share my build of the Horizon Jurassic Park Velociraptor kit build here on this thread. These kits are incredibly detailed and exact copies of the Stan Winston dinosaur maquettes that were created specially for the movie and a serious collectors item. These kits were produced by the model kit company 'Horizon' back when the movie was released in 1993, but then Horizon suddenly seemed to go out of business and stopped producing these wonderful Jurassic Park models. They do show up on ebay once in a while, but you would have to dig deep into your pockets to nab one as the prices have soared. I was lucky enough to get one relatively cheap and am excited to show my work-in-progress build and share my techniques on building this kit. I may do threads on the other 3 Jurassic Park dinosaurs in this series (T-rex, Brachiosaur and the Spitter), but that's for later. Let's start with the Raptor! Attachments:

Sorting out the parts and cleaning up the flash. I notice the toes on the left foot (the one in contact with the ground) are formed together again as appears to be the case in all these Raptor kits. On the box, it's clear that the toes were originally intended to be positioned apart a little as with the right foot. I will soften the vinyl with some hot water and re-position these toes carefully. I think it makes more sense also for the dino to hold its toes apart as it needs to balance its whole body upon that foot. Attachments:
