Here's my WIP thread of Scar's plasma cannon and working backpack featured in Alien vs Predator. The cannon will have leds and possibly a laser assembly as an additional choice to the wearer. The backpack will open up to reveal medical accessories and maybe even include lighting. Pics coming very soon! Attachments:

Here's the cannon barrel in progress. I couldn't find a pipe of the correct diameter, so had to build up the extra 3mm with a layer of resin and do lots of sanding and filling. The ends are plastic pipe fittings which acted as a guide and I've started cutting the grooves and cocking mechanism notches into the barrel. I'm aware of different coloured hgh power lasers now available, so I'll be playing around with red, blue and green to see what I like best. Blue may be the winner for my own personal piece, but other colour options will be included as with the led's. The 'stork' part will also be fully functional to rotate and lift the cannon. I'm not sure what accessories would be with this type of Predator medi kit, so any suggestions or pictures showing actual screen-used medi tools would be appreciated to help finish and complete this prop. This is a cool project, I've always liked the Predator weapons and costume pieces. What size of guy are you making this to fit? Or is it completely 1/1 scale, so people would have to be 6 7-ft or more? I'm only 5ft 6 inches. I may go for the blue lasers.

This is to be 1/1 scale, so the best size to be would be 7ft, although I realise almost nobody is this tall. It would still look ok on your height, but 6ft and over is best.

ok, I'd probably take one then if you can fit it with my choice of lights. I don't really know what medi accessories the medikit pack would have, but look online, or just check out the film for ideas and clues.

Here is the main base part of the cannon, almost ready for the attachments and fittings to be added on top. This was a nightmare to do, but pretty happy now at how it turned out. More pics to be added! Attachments:

Those pieces look really big. How long will the cannon be in total length?

Those pieces look really big. How long will the cannon be in total length? The cannon total length I will have to check by assembling the parts I've made so far. I don't recall what I came up with, but it's probably 14 inches or more. The part pictured would be positioned high near the tip of the barrel. Attachments:

That looks really well made. Is that the sighting as what's mounted upon the tips of real gun barrels? I'm no expert on guns, but they were on my air rifles at least.

Not sure what it's supposed to be really, only that it's on the Hot Toys 14 inch firgure cannon. I'm using this as my reference as well as screenshots from the AVP movie.

Is the backpack modelled off the Hot Toys figure?

Is the backpack modelled off the Hot Toys figure? The backpack is modelled off the toy as well as the screen-used piece. The toy is a little too 'undetailed' or simple in places, so I refer to the movie prop to improve on what the toy is lacking. Attachments:

So this is the backpack you're working from? I think you will need to make the dimple impressions smaller on the big one so it doesn't just look like a big toy. Also, if the cannon length is 14 inches, then I estimate the medi-kit part would be about that too. That's a nice size and you'd be able to fit lots of gadgets inside that. Attachments:

Exactly, I have an identical one to work from and is a handy little reference piece to play around with. I love the many points of articulation as well.

So how much of your cannon will be articulated? Is it to be completely motorized, or does the wearer have to manipulate it by hand?
