I have built an armature for the sculpting of a 14" long Spinosaurus finger claw and chosen an oil-based clay to create this piece as it will require a fair bit of clay and it's fast to add to the armature. It will be a huge piece once complete and cast in a resin material so can be displayed for all time. The armatire is basically a wood stick on a stand covered with foam for lightness. The clay layer will be about 1 inch thick, but still require a lot due to its size. Attachments:

Whooaa! I'm guessing this is the larger inside claw on the Spino's hand? This is gonna be one heavy beast to make.

Hence the reason I used foam for most of the filling. I may do the same when it's cast up and have the resin on the outside to help keep the weight down.
