I will likely fire it up from my garden, but it's unlikely to go far due to the weight, short burn time and the fact that I'd probably pin it down (at least at first).

If you can get hold of some bigger rockets (and you can for sure in the US), why not go for a much larger pack..even full size? If rockets are too dangerous, or illegal (at the size sold in the States), you could maybe put jets into it if you have the money!
